Chemistry Laboratory
Through the Environmental Chemistry Laboratory, the ESED strives to provide research opportunity, equipment and technical support to students who has research interest in interface of chemistry, engineering and environmental sciences. Center offers an Environmental Monitoring Laboratory course which covers evaluation of water quality parameters and instrumental methods for analysis of contaminants. Some of the experiments related to water quality monitoring carried out in the chemistry lab are:
Cation/anion analysis; BOD, COD; Residual chlorine analysis; Metal analysis; Instrumental methods of pollutant analysis; Characterization of sludge sample etc. The laboratory meets all requirements for chemical safety.
Major instrumental equipment includes:
pH meter
Conductivity meter
Turbidimeter
BOD (Biochemical Oxygen Demand) incubator
Flame Photometer
COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand) digester
Visible spectrophotometer
DO meter (Dissolved Oxygen)
