The heart of Environmental Science and Engineering at IIT Bombay is excellence in undergraduate and graduate education. Our main goal is training students to conduct innovative research and development for the society. IIT-Bombay students enjoy personal experiences in scholarship and independent inquiry, in which they play an active role in formulating the research to be undertaken, implementing the work, and carrying it to completion. Graduate research projects combine careful fundamental study with recognition of the practical and technological importance of the research.
The department has a long-standing history of excellence the graduate education and one of the pioneer department to start environmental engineering program in the country, and recently in 2018 started B.Tech-M.Tech programme. Currently, the department has about 180 students. The graduate students are in high demand in both industry and academia.
