ACADEMIC DEGREE PROGRAMSDual Degree (B.Tech-M.Tech.) Duration : Five years Masters Degree Graduate students in CESE can enroll in a course of study leading to the M.Tech. degree in Environmental Science and Engineering. The requirements include: 58 credit hours of course work - distributed over three semesters, 4 credits of seminar in the first semester and 48 credits of research work conducted during the second, third and fourth semesters. Academic performance with CC average (6 CPI) or better on all courses registered for graduate credit. Presentation and defence of thesis before a committee of four examiners. The normal completion time is 24 months. Students have the opportunity for direct participation in a variety of research projects that address environmental problems of current concern. Dual Degree (M.Sc.-Ph.D.) Bachelor's degree with any one of Biotechnology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics for two years/four semesters, and any one of the remaining two subjects for at least one year/two semesters.
The candidate must have a valid JAM Score. Ph.D. Degree Students interested in the degree of Doctor of Philosophy can enroll in a course of study and research developed individually according to guidelines pertaining to core courses, electives and thesis work. The Ph.D. degree requires completion of a minimum of 40 course credits beyond M.Sc. or B.Tech. and a minimum of 16 course credits beyond M.Tech. Considerable emphasis is placed on the development and execution of a high quality research project. Each student admitted to the program has an advisor, who along with the faculty advisory committee provides guidance essential to the development of a meaningful program of study and research. The candidates must present the results of their study and research in a dissertation. Typically the completion time after registration ranges between 2-6 years.
