Traditional biomass is a major source of cooking and heating energy in developing countries. Biomass is a distributed resource with spatio-temporal variation. Comprehension database of resource potential, competing uses, and logistics feasibility are required for successful decentralized biomass energy planning. In this talk, Dr. Hiloidhari will discuss agricultural biomass resource strength in India at the village, district, and state-level resolutions. Studies related to household and industrial uses of biomass will also be presented. Agricultural biomass can support 17% of India’s primary energy demand. The modern use of biomass yet to make strong in road in rural India. Hence, suggestions on how to overcome barriers includes updated biomass calendar, biomass densification, improved cookstoves for rural kitchens, the dedicated market for biomass growers, and policy assistance at per with solar and wind will be discussed.
